10 week update...

or lack thereof!

I feel like I should update, but there's nothing really new going on.
It's nice not having to keep our pregnancy a secret anymore! I love that I'm able to talk about all things baby with my mom now! It was so hard keeping it from her for the whole 4 weeks! I'm not good at keeping *happy news* secrets!

Still not eating much. I have to force myself to eat breakfast, I can usually choke down a decent size lunch, then dinner is hit or miss. Popsicles are my friend right now...and Sour Patch Kids. :) Yum!

How far along? 10 weeks 1 day
Total weight gain/loss: lost about 4 lbs since first dr appt.
Maternity clothes? nope.
Stretch marks? no. fingers crossed it stays that way.
Sleep: i feel like i need it, but when i fall asleep i'm wide awake after about 4 hours.
Best moment this week: telling our families the news!!
Movement: Not yet!
Food cravings: sour patch kids
Gender: our families are taking bets...about 9 weeks till we find out who wins!
Labour signs: n/a
Belly button in or out? In.
What I am looking forward to:finding out if it's a boy or girl!
Milestones: Telling the world our news!!!! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! :)

The Cat Is Out Of The Bag!

Both sets of parents know about the baby now and believe me, their reactions were PRICELESS!

We always spend Christmas eve at my mom & dad's house so we figured that would be the perfect time to tell them! So, after my mom's family left we all opened our gifts. After everyone finished I gave mom, dad and Jason their "special" gifts! Jason said he first thought it was a picture of an eyeball, but after he read the frame he started smiling. Mom unwrapped their frame, looked at me and said "Are you pregnant?" to which I said "Yes!"...she then proceeded to scream, jump up from the couch throwing stuff in the floor and attacking me! haha. It was hilarious. Dad & Jason were in a state of shock, I'm not sure if it was because they were so surprised or if they were afraid of Mom attacking them too! haha. So, after everything (Mom!) calmed down, they of course asked a million questions and started making plans for our little one. Needless to say, all 3 of them are ecstatic!

Kevin's parents opened their gift Christmas morning. It took (seriously) about 3 minutes (which seemed like an eternity) for Kevin's mom to realize what it was. Then she said "Ya'll aren't P.G. are you?!?!" and I said "Yeah!" She started screaming "Grandma & Grandpa again!! Yay!!" haha. Kevin's brother and his family were all there too, so they got to see her reaction. They are all very excited for us too!

Mom's already taken dibs on buying the crib and my aunt and cousin are taking dibs on the nursery bedding. haha. Seriously, Kevin and I are so blessed to be bringing a little one into two amazing families. It's going to be so loved...and so spoiled!

If I ever figure out how to upload video from our camcorder I'll put the "SURPRISE" footage on here! Believe me, it is HILARIOUS!!

Who's on cloud nine?

I AM!

Lookie what we got...

Yep. That's baby Griffitts standing on his/her head! Looks like we have a gymnast or a breakdancer on the way!

Here are the details...
Our appointment was at 1:15 but Kevin & I were so excited we showed up about 15 mins early! I went back and did the usual urine sample then came back out and sat in the lobby for only about 5 minutes. The u/s technician called us back and took us straight to the examination room. 5 minutes later we were looking at our little one. After Kevin teasing that there were probably 2 in there, I'll admit I was relieved to only see 1!! haha. The tech took pictures and video of our little one, and even pointed out where the spine, arm buds, leg buds, umblical cord and yolk sac were. When she pointed at the leg buds Baby G started kicking them! It was perfect timing and so cute! She also told us the baby is only 1 3/4 centimeters long! Hard to think something so little has already stolen our hearts! :) We just sat there and watched him/her for about 10 minutes and basked in the glory of knowing all is going perfectly!

According to the ultrasound I'm measuring 8w3d, but they're sticking with 8w6d which is based off my last menstrual cycle. So, tomorrow starts week 9! They left our due date at July 27th, though Kevin was hoping they'd push it back 3 days to the 30th (his birthday)! As the u/s tech finished she printed off 3 pictures for us and gave us a CD with about 15 more pictures and 5 of 6 videos.

After our u/s we met with Cynthia. She told me everything looked perfect on the ultrasound and my bloodwork from my last appointment was great. Our next appointment is Jan. 19th at 3:15. We won't have another u/s until around week 20 when we'll find out if we have a Bret or an Elaina on the way!

Continued prayers and MeRrY cHrIsTmAs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winter has arrived...it can leave now.

the view out our back door...about 7" of snow and even more to come today & tonight!

Yowza. In case you haven't heard, the east coast has been and is still getting hit with a big fat snow storm. It's crazy! We probably have about 7" here and my parents have at least 12". Getting home yesterday evening was all too eventful.

I left work at 4 and started home. I drove all the way down Hwy 394, which took about 40 minutes, only to find iT blocked and I had to detour...to another road that was also blocked...so I go another way to get home, only to start sliding down a hill, losing control of my car, and hitting a sign/getting my car stuck on the side of the road. *enter hormonal tears here...b/c believe me, there were lots!*

So, here I sat at the bottom of a slick hill with other vehicles coming towards me. Can you say SCARY?!?! Kevin was 35 minutes away (well, more like an hour and 35 mins with all the snow) at work so I called my brother-in-law to come get me. His house is only about 3 miles from where I was but b/c of traffic it took him an hour and 20 minutes to get to me. Thankfully, a nice city police officer stopped, checked on me, then let me sit in his car until Jr arrived. After he got there, they pushed my car out while I backed it up, and we just drove it to a grocery store about 1/4 mile from "my stuck spot" and parked it. There were cars parked everywhere along the sides of the road...people had just given up and abandoned their vehicles. Thankfully, we all got home okay and Kevin arrived about an hour later. He was so worried about me (and baby!)...as were his parents, my parents, and 1/2 the staff where Kevin works. haha.

Even though I didn't make it home with my car I still have to thank God b/c if I hadn't hit that sign, my car (with me & baby bean inside) would have went over a hill...not a huge hill, but big enough it would have hurt me and the car. So, thank you God for guiding my car into that sign.

8 weeks today

Since my "bump" doesn't exist yet (it's more so just "bloat" which isn't cute!) there will be no bump pic. Boooo! I know. However...here's a picture of what size baby bean is this week!

Yep, he/she is the size of a raspberry this week. Big, huh? I love reading how big he/she is in relations to food...it makes it easier to picture rather than hearing "he/she is .63 inches long".

In other good news, SIX DAYS until our first ultrasound! I seriously can't wait! I'm so excited. Scared? Yes! Of course. But I'm trying to have only positive thoughts and picture our adorable little one squirming around!

Not so good news, the porcelain gods and I are becoming good friends. I've yet to actually be sick, but I'm super nauseous most of the day and dry heave way too often. I try telling myself "Yay! Morning sickness! You PRAYED for this!" but that's hard when you're staring into the toilet.

9 days till we tell my family/10 days till we tell Kevins! I'm so excited to see their reactions! :)

Continue to keep us in your prayers. Pray baby bean continues to grow into a happy and healthy baby and that mommy & daddy learn all they can to be the best parents possible!

"Breaking the News" gifts = bought!

The top one is for my brother and we bought 2 of the other one and will give one to each set of grandparents.

I can't wait. December 21st needs to get here so we can see our little one and have pictures to put in these adorable frames! TWO WEEKS from tomorrow!

Continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I've yet to actually have morning sickness though the nausea woke me up this morning and I spent about 15 minutes hugging the toilet waiting for "it" to arrive...it never did. I think that's worse than actually being sick. To me it is anyway!

Thank you God for keeping the three of us healthy thus far. Thank you for blessing us with this little one for 6 weeks and 5 days as of today. Please let our baby bean continue to develop and grow into a happy and healthy baby. Amen.

Nursery Dreams.

No, we don't know what sex the baby is yet, but Yes I am already picking out nursery colors!
I just like to be prepared, okay! :)

I can't decide what "style" I want to go with. Elegant/peaceful baby OR bright/fun baby? Our house isn't really bright (mostly blues and browns) but nor is it "elegant". Regardless, here are my favorites so far.

Which one is your favorite?? :)

Follow Up on Appt #1.

Today was our first appointment. As I mentioned before, we've decided on Seasons of Bristol for our OB/GYN office of choice, and as soon as I walked in I knew we'd made the right choice. The receptionist was super nice and congratulated us on our BFP as soon as I told her my name. Not only that, but I just felt deep down inside that this was the place for us to use for this amazing journey! :)

After filling out what seemed like a book of information, the nurse called us to come back. My first stop was the bathroom to give a urine sample. She said this would be 'To Do' #1 every visit, so to be prepared with a full bladder! After that was done, we went to our room where the nurse took my weight, blood pressure, and temperature. I'm actually down 2 lbs since my last doctor visit, but it could just be this office's scales. My BP was 120/70. Yay for that. My temperature however was 100.4. The nurse asked me if I was feeling okay and I told her I was feeling fine. She said it was probably nothing to worry about and that a higher temperature is common during pregnancy.

Then the questions started...all 8 million of them! ha. The nurse was really nice though and asked us if this was our first, how long we'd been trying, if we'd told our families yet, etc. After she finished the nurse practioner, Cynthia, came in. She informed us she'd be asking more questions (what else could their be?!)...so she did. After THAT was finished, she informed us they would do an ultrasound next visit and since I'd had a pap smear in late June, I wouldn't have to worry about that. So, December 21st is the big day we'll get to see our baby for the first time AND hear his/her heartbeat! She said that according to my last menstrual cycle I'm 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant and put our due date at July 27th. That's exactly what I'd figured out via The Bump/BabyCenter/etc. Who knows though, it may change after the ultrasound.
Cynthia also gave me a goodie bag full of magazines, information on exercise, medicines that can be taken during pregnancy, coupons, brochures on local pediatricians, and nutrition information.

Before leaving, I had to make one more stop by the lab and give 4 (yes, FOUR!) viles of blood. It felt like it took her 15 minutes to get all that blood, but I know it was only a couple of minutes. I'm fine with having blood taken as long as I can turn my head. I can't stand to see the needle go in or the blood to come out. ha.

So, we're really excited that we'll have a picture of our little one before Christmas! Cynthia also told us to bring a DVD-R so we can record the ultrasound. How amazing with that be to watch over and over? We're so excited! I can't wait to see the looks on our families faces when we break the news!! :)

And now...the infamous prego survey.

How far along? 5 weeks 6 days

1/2 nervous...1/2 excited!

Tomorrow is our first appointment, and I'm not going to lie. I'm nervous as craaaaap! All of this just feels too good to be true and I don't think I can handle anything bad happening. I'm trying to stay positive and have faith, which I do, but I can't help be be scared.

Please pray that everything will go perfectly tomorrow. I'll update ASAP!

Happy Black Friday!

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! Ours was great. Be proud of me, I kept my mouth shut! Heck yes I wanted to "break the news" to everyone, but I didn't. :) Go me!

I've been up for about an hour and a half...in that time I've managed to buy my brothers Christmas gift, my sister in laws gift, AND my mom's gift! Thank God for black friday online deals! I've tried the whole going to the store kind of thing, but for me it's just too crowded and you can't really shop! More power to the people who get major buys though!

Oh, and look what else I bought...

Cute, right? $5 at Old Navy...AND our first baby purchase! :) Maybe I'll use this as part of the gift we'll give on Christmas to break the news! Eek! I can't wait! 4 weeks from today!

Good luck to everyone shopping today!! I'll be working, then heading to a wedding rehearsal! My dearest college friend, Tiffany, is getting married tomorrow! :)

5 weeks today...i think

4 wks 6 days

According to Fertility Friend, I am 5 weeks as of today. I'm feeling great so far. Yeah, my boobs ache and I'm tired and ready for bed by 8:30, but over all I'm feeling great! No morning sickness yet, though I've had a few moments of nausea.

I'm not gonna lie. I am ecstatic about being pregnant. However, I'm terrified of all the things that could happen. I know I should think positive and put it in God's hands (and I am...) but it's so hard to not worry. Everytime I go to the bathroom I'm terrified of seeing blood. Thank you God for letting this baby hold on this long. Please bless us with ~35 weeks more of "stickiness" and perfect development.

Kevin's so sweet with the whole thing. He rubs on my belly, kisses it, and insists we start thinking of names NOW! Considering we rarely agree on a name, it may be a good idea to get a head start!

We've made the deal to not tell our families until Christmas. One problem, I suuuuck at keeping secrets! haha. I'm dying to tell somebody, anybody, EVERYBODY! I'm thinking I'm gonna have to tell mom, dad, and jason on mom's birthday (12/15)...at least I'll be able to talk about it with someone then...and that will be 10 less days i have to keep quiet!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy thanksgiving! Hope you eat until you're miserable and spend as much time as possible with your family!

First Appointment Made!

Kevin & I go for our first appointment with the OB/Gyn next Monday at 12:45 p.m.! I can't wait!
We've decided to use Seasons of Bristol. I've heard only great things about the place and I'm excited to get to know the staff! :)

Had my first "OMG, I'm gonna puke!" moment this morning. Cake, muffins, and chocolate were everywhere at work this morning and I seriously couldn't stand the smell. I honestly thought I was going to vomit. Thankfully I didn't, because that would've been hard to explaing to my co-workers!

Continue to keep us in your prayers! Pray that baby bean continues to hold on and grow!

BFP

BFP!
For those who don't know, that stands for BIG FAT POSITIVE.
That's right...Kevin & I are expecting! **insert happy dance here**

We just found out last night. I was expecting my "monthly visitor" yesterday but she hadn't shown by 6, so I knew something was up. I've been feeling a little "off" the past few days too. Not in a bad way, just not like I normally do around this time of the month. So, I had a cheapie pregnancy test and decided to give it a shot. I come back to look at it after 5 minutes and see this...
It's hard to see in this picture, but there's a faint line to the left of the dark pink line...meaning the test is positive. However, not being able to take that as a good enough answer, Kevin and I rushed to Wal-Mart to buy a digital pregnancy test.

Yep, it says 'PREGNANT'!!! :) We're going to be parents!
Needless to say, we are ecstatic! I could barely sleep last night I was so excited. We're hoping to keep quiet until Christmas to tell everyone. ((so actually, if we know you in real life, you aren't reading this until AFTER christmas...so, i hope your holidays were great! :))) However, my moms birthday is 12/15, so we may go ahead and tell her, my dad, and brother, then wait till Christmas morning for Kevin's family! It's going to be so hard to keep my mouth shut! ha. I want nothing more than to call my mom and scream "You're going to be a Grandma!!" Everyone is going to be so excited. This will be the first grandchild on my side and the third on Kevin's side.

I'm praying harder than ever before that God will watch over me, Kevin and our little one. I pray that he will keep all 3 of us healthy and help our baby to grow and develop perfectly. I know a few very special angels are "upstairs" doing the happy dance for us! My grandma would be so happy if she were still alive. She has three great-grandchildren, but my cousin's (the daddies) were never super close to her and Grandpa like my brother and I were (still are with Grandpa)...so, I know she'd be thinking of all the ways to spoil our little one and all the ways to fatten me up over the next 9 months. :) Yum, chicken n' dumplings and banana pudding would be my "Grandma meals" of choice!

If you're a person of prayer, please just pray for God to give Kevin and I all the strength and knowledge we will need over the term of this pregnancy and beyond. And please pray for Baby Griffitts to have a happy & healthy 9 months of "baking"... :P

We're thinking I'm around 4 or 5 weeks along. I'll be calling the OB/GYN first thing Monday morning along with my endocrinologist. Not sure when our first "baby" visit will be, but I'm already excited about seeing its heartbeat for the first time. Of course I plan to post pictures, results, etc regularly.

Until then...
